John gave up his job as a property manager on the railways and took on the day-to-day running of the café. Meanwhile Sue indulged her passion for baking and developed a range of delicious handmade cakes. All of the cakes are made on the premises and are arguably very special indeed – you won’t find the same cake anywhere else in Exeter!
Sue says: “We are lucky to have a loyal team of staff, who are as passionate as we are about delivering the best quality beverages, food and service.

“We support local producers so all of our food is locally sourced wherever possible. For example, our sausages, bacon and ham come from Courtenays, the local butcher; and our fruit and vegetables come from Milfords – both long-established Exeter businesses. Our soft drinks are supplied by award-winning Devon producers, Frobishers and Luscombes.
“In the heart of St Thomas we are in the perfect location for a quick lunch and a chat, time out with the best cappuccino and fruit flapjack in town or the perfect opportunity to grab one of our scrumptious paninis and yummy cakes for a picnic in the park.” We offer free Wi-Fi for our customers, and the Independent for reading.
