Welcome to Café at 36

Café at 36 is a well established cafe located in Cowick Street, in the heart of the local community of St Thomas, Exeter. The cafe is a family friendly local cafe, serving outstanding coffee and tea, and affordable locally sourced food cooked on the premises. From 8.00 am on weekdays and Saturdays, you can enjoy everything from cooked breakfasts, jacket potatoes, freshly made sourdough toasties through to a homemade cake.

FREE WIFI / local Artwork / family friendly / Rare/secondhand books

Wherever possible the food used in the Cafe is sourced in the West Country. At the heart of the cafe is the coffee obtained from Exe coffee roasters, which is based just over a mile up the road in the city centre.  Every cup is freshly ground to order and hand crafted on the La Marzocca espresso machine.

All of our meat products we use at the cafe come from Courtneys, the local butcher in Cowick Street now owned by Burrow Farm and the fruit and vegetables are supplied by Milfords – both long established Exeter businesses. The soft drinks are supplied by award-winning Devon producers, Frobishers and Luscombes. Eggs are free range from Exe Valley Eggs and bread is baked just down the road at Hardings bakery an established local – family run business.

The Cafe is the perfect venue for either one of the best cooked breakfasts in Exeter, a tasty toasty or a slice of one of our great home made cakes. Or just take time out with a delicious coffee and a good read. We offer takeaway drinks and food too.

Out of print and second hand books are available for reading and sale on behalf of Joel Segal, an established local Antiquarian bookseller.  Visit Joel’s fantastic new website http://joelsegalbooks.com/ for all the info and links you need.  If your pooch is also in need of a rest in a friendly atmosphere, we welcome well dressed and well behaved dogs.
